Guide of International Student Application

Welcome to apply our university. Please visit our online application system to get information of academic programs, scholarship and start your application.

I. Online Application:  OFFICIAL LINK OF CCU’S ONLINE APPLICATION SYSTEM


Please submit your documents as stated below.
First, fill in your personal information and upload relevant documents. Remember to upload your documents only in pdf format and the limitation of each file is up to 10MB.

(1) Details:
All items can be found in our online application including Personal Information, Emergency Contact, Education Background, Work Experience, Language Proficiency, etc.

(2) Choose academic programs:

Every applicant can choose two optional academic programs to apply. Please note in most occasions your application documents will only be reviewed by the department you select as the first priority.
*Please evaluate your Chinese proficiency to see if you can take Chinese-taught course offered by our university, or we suggest you to apply Entirely English Program. Most undergraduate courses are taught in Chinese and only a very limited numbers of courses are instructed in English.
*Since 2015 fall semester, six Entirely English Degree Programs are installed in our university: Educational Leadership and Management Development (MEd) (link), Doctoral Program in Cognitive Science (Ph.D) (link), Master and doctor of Science in Advanced Manufacturing System (MS) (link), Doctor of Philoshophy in Ambient Intelligence and Smart Systems (Ph.D) and International Master Program in Global Finance (MS) (link).
 

(3) Scholarships:

(3.1) Governmental Scholarship (Information link)
Please apply for the different kinds of governmental scholarship by yourself and follow the announcement of various departments each year, CCU won't assist applicants to apply for them.

(3.2) CCU scholarship (Information link)

If the applicant intends to apply scholarship offered by our university, please present your intention to apply when filling in the online application form.  And if you are already a governmental scholarship recipient of any kind, you will not be eligible to receive CCU Scholarship at the same time.
Our university offers CCU Scholarship covering tuition and miscellaneous fees, free on-campus accommodation (including summer / winter break) and living expense of a proper amount of stipend according to the annual budgets. It will be disseminated and reviewed on students’ academic performance on a semester basis and decided by College-Level Scholarship Review Committees.
Principally, the above scholarship is granted to the incoming students' first academic year, and starting from the the third semester, it will be decided by the College-Level Scholarship Review Committees according to the student's academic performance during the previous semester.

(3.3) Elite Scholarship Program (Information link)
The Ministry of Education (MOE) created the Elite Scholarship Program in order to encourage lecturers from countries in South and Southeast Asia to pursue a graduate degree in Taiwan (with priority given to students enrolling in doctoral programs). One hundred students a year over a period of three years may be awarded this scholarship (i.e. a total of three hundred students). The scholarship program will run for a total of six years: September 2017 until August 2022.
The Elite Scholarship Program provides each student with a monthly stipend of NT$25,000. A master’s student may claim stipends up to a maximum of two years; a doctoral student may claim stipends up to a maximum of three years.
 

2. The transcript of the highest-level degree you obtained, either in Chinese or English
(If you get admission, you will be required to provide your transcript of highest degree authenticated by a Taipei representative office in or nearby your country.)

3. The diploma of the highest-level degree you obtained, either in Chinese or English
(If you get admission, you will be required to provide your highest degree diploma, authenticated by a Taipei representative office in or nearby your country. If your school does not issue the academic credentials in Chinese nor English, you may have the credentials translated and notarized by ROC overseas representative office or by a registered translation agency.)

4. Financial statements issued by financial institutions
You can provide your parents’ or your record of bank account, proof of scholarship you have obtained, etc.
We'd like to make sure that you have enough money to support your living expenses here.

5. Two recommendation letters prepared by two different referees
You could scan the inside pages of your letters, merge two referees into one document and upload them. Please remember that both of the recommendation letters shall have the referee's handwritten signatures.


6. Study plan (in Chinese or English) 
State your reasons and plans for study at our University with 500 to 1000 words.

7. Signed Declaration of Nationality

You can download here or via online application system.

8. Documents or Proofs of Language Proficiency or Other Competences (Depending on the departments you are applying) 
*Department of Business Administration(BBA, MBA, Ph.D) and Department of Information Management requires the applicant to provide the certificate of Chinese or English proficiency to prove he or she has sufficient language capability to accomplish academic requirement as attached list.)

B. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Before your application, you can browse answers of frequent asking questions by previous applicants.  

Q1 What is deadline of application?
For Fall semester, March 15; for Spring semester (not for Bachelors & Global Finance MS Program), October 15.

Q2 What academic programs can you apply?
You can refer to the website of our university (link) to get details. You can also find the list of academic programs after FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS. Although you can select two optional academic programs in our online application system, please note in most occasions your application documents will only be reviewed by the department which you select as the first priority. Only when the department suggests your application should be reviewed by the other department you select, your application will be reviewed again. 

Q3 What is the requirement of language proficiency?
The committee of department which you apply will review the proof to decide if your language proficiency is sufficient to accomplish academic requirement of our university. For example, Department of Business Administration (BBA, MBA, Ph.D) requires the applicant MUST to provide the certificate of Chinese or English proficiency to prove he or she has the sufficient language capability to accomplish academic requirement.

Q4 What is the official language in our academic programs?
Although some English-taught courses are offered, most courses in our university are taught in Chinese, especially undergraduate programs. If you are not confident in your Chinese proficiency, we suggested you to apply Entirely English Program.

Q5 What is your Entirely English Programs?
Until 2015 fall semester, we have seven graduate programs, Educational Leadership and Management Development (MEd) (link), Doctoral Program in Cognitive Science (Ph. D) (link), Master and Doctor of Science in Advanced Manufacturing System (MS) (link), Doctor of Philosophy in Ambient Intelligence and Smart Systems and  International Master Program in Global Finance (MS/Not open for Spring) (link), Ph.D. program in Accounting and Information Technology (link).

Q6 Can I learn Chinese in your university?
Our center for language studies offers Chinese programs. You can find information here (link). However, according to previous international students, although Chinese programs do help, it is not enough to get sufficient Chinese proficiency via those Chinese programs for taking courses. We suggest applicants to improve Chinese proficiency before the admission.

Q7 Does your university offer scholarship and how can I apply?
You will be asked if you want to apply for Governmental Scholarship (Information link) or CCU Scholarship (Information link) in our online application system. We suggest you to apply for the different kinds of Governmental Scholarship by yourself and fellow the announcement of various departments each year.

Q8 What is the procedure and criteria to review applicants?
After deadline of submission, our office will organize application documents to see if applicants miss any required documents. Successively, these review application documents will be forwarded to the academic departments which applicants apply to. Professors of academic departments will review application according to academic performances, language proficiency, study plan and so on, to make final decision.

Q9 What is tuition and expense to study in your university?
For one semester consisting of six months, it is between NTD 100,000 and 140,000 covering tuition fee, books, insurance, house, food and transportation, etc. Our tuition fee is from NTD 48,000 to 55,000.

Q10 If I receive admission letter, do I need to provide additional documents?
You are required to provide your highest degree certificate and transcript which has been authenticated by the Taipei Representative Office in or nearby your country. You can find contact here (link).
