Degree requirements:

You must meet the established requirements for the National Chung Cheng University Department Institute of Criminology.

A total of 36 credits must be completed, of which 18 credits should be gained from required courses. A research thesis is required.

Requirements for the Ph. D Degree:

  1. Successful completion of at least 18 required courses and 18 elective courses.
  2. Successful completion of the course “Academic Research Ethics” (at least 6 hours) and obtain the Course Completion Certificate of Academic Research Ethics Education.
  3. Credited passing of the Ph.D. qualifying examination.
  4. Credited passing of the dissertation proposal examination.
  5. Publication of at least two papers in TSSCI, SSCI or other academic journals related to criminology determined by the screening system.
  6. Attend an international conference with an associated presentation.
  7. Credited passing of the dissertation oral defense.
  8. A dissertation-based oral defense must be approved by the advisor and an Academic Committee. Please note that the period from the dissertation proposal examination to the degree oral defense must be at least four months.
